Freighter Travel
You have to know someone or win a contest if you want to get a ride on a Great Lakes freighter. But you can still make a transatlantic crossing as baggage if you plan. Here's a series of article from a couple taking this journey.

Why Doesn't Lime Island Get More Attention?
Right down the river from Neebish Island sits Lime Island, a former site for lime kilns and a freighter refueling stop. And as this article at Michigan.gov states: Lime Island is an Undiscovered Gem.
Now the seasonal caretakers are finally getting the recognition they deserve. See the SooEveningNews: Lime Island ceremony to honor Chilsons

Getting The Fishing Secret Out
The St. Marys River is a great place for fishing. But for some reason, no one outside of Michigan and Ontario knows this.

The Best Islands
If you're reading this then you probably agree that Neebish Island is the best island of all. But for flocks of summer tourists, Mackinaw Island is the best choice in North America according to National Geographic Magazine - Mackinac Island, Michigan.
And speaking of tourism, the NY Times has an article about how tourism related businesses (like those catering to winter and summer sports) will suffer as the climate warms - How Do You Ski if There Is No Snow?
